Grey's Anatomy: The Complete Fifth Season

Christian Cintron READ TIME: 1 MIN.

The fifth season of Grey's Anatomy is momentous for many reasons. It marks the 100th episode of the show. Two major characters seem to die in the season finale. Plus, there is a series of major de-gaying moments, including the last episode with T.R. Knight and the mysterious and awkward disappearance of Dr. Erica Hahn (Brooke Smith).

"Grey's Anatomy" remains an amazing show in its fifth season. Doctors, drama, and a bunch of characters that are deeper than most is what makes this show so memorable. Despite Katherine Heigl's superiority complex, she still delivers as the lovable character of Dr. Izzie Stevens. We also see the ups and downs of Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey).

The season marks major guest star appearances by Eric Stoltz, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Denny Duqette, and Jessica Robbins as Arizona Robins the sexy and quirky lesbian pediatrician. There is also the same number of historical surgeries, heartfelt stories and dramatic stories that have driven the show to success.

The DVD set includes deleted scenes, a rather unimpressive gag reel and a series of featurettes. One behind-the-scenes featurette explores the 100th episode, and the other delves into the wild success of the character of Morgan's Denny Duquette.

Diehard fans will want the season that marks new relationships, marriages, and deaths. Is it for everyone? That's for you to decide. This isn't the season likely to convert non-"Grey's" fans but will definitely be at home in any collection.
