The Pride of New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen, and the E Street Band, are going on a nine-week tour of the United States, and one of the stops on this tour will be the BB&T Center in Sunrise.
The Boss, along with the E Street Band, will take the stage in South Florida on Tuesday, February 16 at 7:30 p.m. Their current tour is called "The River Tour," which is an homage to the classic 1980 Springsteen album The River.
Bruce Springsteen is known the world over for epitomizing the strong, tough, working-class, New Jersey image that is just second-nature to him. Growing up in Freehold Borough, New Jersey, he was interested in music from a young age, and his career started in earnest when his mother bought him a Kent guitar when he was 16. He has sold over 120 million records worldwide, won 20 Grammy Awards, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Some of his albums, such as Born to Run (1975), the aforementioned River, and Born in the U.S.A. (1984), have become "life soundtracks" for an entire generation of people.
This specific tour came about while Springsteen was releasing the box set "The Ties That Bind: The River Collection," which looks at the entire state of America that inspired the classic 1980 album. Springsteen told Rolling Stone, "We made the box set and there was no plan to tour. Then we felt, 'Maybe we should do a show just to raise the flag and have some fun and make it a little more exciting.' I said, 'Okay, maybe we'll do a show in New York.' Then that went quick to, 'Maybe we should do a couple of shows.'"
That plan of a "couple of shows" led them to schedule 24 concert dates around the country, one of which is in South Florida. At the concert, you can expect to hear all twenty songs from The River album, which was left out of his last concert. If you're looking for surprises, stay for the encores: you may hear your favorite song!
Tickets are available to purchase online from thebbtcenter.com or from the BB&T Center box office. Tickets start at $55 for plaza, mezzanine and club seating, and at $150 for general admission floor seating.
