For most of us, Hurricane Katrina was merely a terrible disaster that we watched from the sidelines, safe in our homes far away from New Orleans. For the folks who lived there however, Katrina was- and still is- the devil, unleashing hell-on-earth not only for the days surrounding the storm, but for weeks, months, and likely years after. Sadly, thanks in large part to our current administration's inability to appropriately handle problems small or large, many of the people affected by Katrina haven't been able to return home- if they still have a home- and those who have were often devastated by the financial, emotional and spiritual toll taken on them.

What can you do to help? First, make a donation. If you have the ability to go to New Orleans to volunteer, get down there!. You can also help by spreading the word that although it's no longer hot news, the problems in cities along the Gulf Coast are still there, and still huge.

If going there's not an option, after you've made a donation, drink to your charity while helping support the cities affected by Katrina.
