DJ Ariel Zetina to Host Smartbar Livestream Event

Tired of Spotify and Apple Music? Have no fear Smartbar resident and DJ Ariel Zetina is bringing down the house – or at least your house – at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, for a curated event in partnership with Red Bull titled Diamond Formation URL. The benefit will assist Chicago-based community organizations and the staff of well-known area clubs.

For the event, Zetina's "dream lineup" includes a plethora of artists and sounds from across the LGBTQ scene. Featuring alongside Zetina is DJ Stingray, Akua, DJ SWISHA, Kush Jones, Miss Twink USA, Darling Shear, Pangea, and many more.

Ariel Zetina is a Latinx trans woman, rising DJ, producer and writer based in Chicago. Though her music can be considered techno, she takes inspiration from Chicago house, Belizean punta, and the queer club scene worldwide. These influences can be heard on 2020's "MUAs at the End of the World" EP (Femme Culture); 2019's "Organism" (Maj�a); "Shell" (Head Charge); and 2017's "Cyst" (Boukan Records). Her DJs sets have been worldwide. She is a resident at the legendary house club Smartbar, organizes Ariel's Party at the Hideout, co-runs the party/mix series Rumors, and is on Discwoman's roster. She is also a playwright, and has had her plays performed in Chicago, California, New York City, and Baltimore.

Diamond Formation will bring a broad range of club sounds into Smartbar, the 35-year-old house music institution. Diamond Formation aims to "uplift trans folk, people of color, and the beautiful intersections of identities which allow the musician/listener/dancer to create such tectonic work."
