No Dolly For You: One Million Moms Boycott American Girl
READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Little girls with religious fanatics for parents will have one less toy to expect under the Christmas tree this year. One Million Moms (1MM), the media watchdog arm of the anti-gay hate group American Family Association has added American Girl dolls and their parent company Mattel to the "naughty" list this year for featuring two dads in an article promoting the adoption of foster children.
"One Million Moms is extremely disappointed that American Girl, owned by Mattel, is promoting sin in the November/December 2015 issue of its magazine," writes 1MM director Monica Cole in her latest rant.
Cole's beef this time is over an article in the popular doll brand's monthly magazine about adoption from foster care that included a large picture of a girl with her two dads, and three other adopted children.
"1MM supports adoption and taking care of orphans as we are biblically instructed to do in Psalm 82:3, but American Girl could have focused the article on the child and not about the parents since it is a magazine for children," Cole writes. "The magazine also could have chosen another child to write about and remained neutral in the culture war."
In response to the article about adoption, Cole has called on her 80,000 followers to boycott the brand.
"We must remain diligent and stand up for biblical values and truth," Cole harps. "Scripture says multiple times that homosexuality is wrong, and God will not tolerate this sinful nature. American Girl doesn't highlight other sins in their magazine."
This isn't the first time that 1MM has called on the faithful to protest a magazine. Every year in February, they call for a boycott of Sports Illustrated over the annual swimsuit issue.
