Touchy Feely: Our Favorite Fall Fashions

Matthew Wexler READ TIME: 6 MIN.

Lush tweed, supple leather and sturdy cotton dominate fashion trends this fall, begging you to get physical, peel back the layers and discover what's underneath. But with these great looks, you might just opt to stay dressed.

SANDRO

Founded by Evelyne Chtrite in 1984 as a cutting-edge women's line with a hint of androgyny, Chtrite's son Ilan launched Sandro Homme in 2008, focusing on classics with a modern twist.

This season's collection wowed crowds at Palais de Tokyo during Paris Fashion Week. Highlights include high-waisted, straight-leg trousers cut short at the ankle and other deliberate musings on proportion to create a tribute to the post-punk/New Wave transitional period. Standouts include drop-shoulder herringbone and flecked boiled wool coats and a plunge lambskin biker jacket with shearling collar.

FRENCH CONNECTION

Black is back (did it go anywhere?) with FCUK's fall collection, but don't worry about a season of overwhelming darkness. Bold animal prints and bright pops of color keep things lively, along with the sturdy and sleek ankle boot, which looks great on the dance floor or at the office.

Shake up the pencil skirt with a flute-front, or pay homage to Laura Ashley with a tropical print maxi dress that's perfect for that last blast of summer heat.

EDEN PARK

Former rugby players Franck Mesnel and Eric Blanc founded this heritage clothing brand in 1987, naming it after the New Zealand stadium where France lost the first rugby union World Cup finale.

The sporty style is a winner this season with oversized pea coats, chunky scarves, quilted padded jackets and more. Neutral shades of black, brown and deep navy create foundation pieces to last all winter long.

ASOS

Comfort is key with ASOS's fall collection, which combines "too cool for school" with British pop sophistication. Casual, layered pieces in soft cotton juxtapose print shirts and a sleeveless neoprene hoodie.

Bold graphics in muted grays, black and a splattering of red appear throughout. A little goes a long way, but choose wisely and you'll be able to make a statement without breaking the bank.

LUISA CERANO

If feminine casual is your style, Luisa Cerano offers a sporty fall collection that is reminiscent of toned-down Carrie Bradshaw with a splash of Hannah Horvath.

Based near Stuttgart, Germany, the brand is a product of the Hauber fashion house, a knitwear company dating back to 1870. Above-the-knee skirts offer a '50s-inspired flair in a muted, metallic palette that some might consider anemic but we love anyway.

RIVER ISLAND

For the guy looking for saturated sophistication, River Island's fall/winter collection gratefully injects a pop of color into an otherwise monotone season of gray and black.

Burgundy blazers, lavender sweaters and other layered pieces add variety for the guy on the go. Those looking for some stylish drama without a PETA confrontation will love the streamlined navy pea coat with lush, faux fur collar.
