'Duck Dynasty' Musical Bombs in Vegas, Show To Shutter in May

It appears that the producers of the "Duck Dynasty" inspired "Duck Commander Musical" in Las Vegas took a gamble and lost.

Following reviews that were mixed, word on the Vegas Strip is that "Duck Commander Musical," the unlikely musical adaptation of the A&E series "Duck Dynasty," will heave its final quack on May 17, a little more than a month after it celebrated its world premiere on April 15.

The Las Vegas Sun reports that sources close to the show and its production say that the crew at the Rio's Crown Theater were contacted Thursday informing them that the show was closing. Rumors of the musical's early demise have been spreading through the Vegas entertainment scene as early as April 19.

Although there have been no official comments from producers, sluggish ticket sales are likely to blame. A look on Ticketmaster showed only nine of the 40 plus tables, four of the 12 banquettes and four of the 100 side seats in the Rio's Crown Theater, were sold for the Saturday night performance.
