Kilian Melloy READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Leslie Jordan has made millions of Americans laugh in his thirty-plus years in show business, and now he's bringing his one-man comedy show down to South Florida. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but only Leslie Jordan can describe them in a way that will make you laugh until you cry. His show "Say Cheese: My Life in Front of the Camera," featuring photography by Jim Cox, is coming to Fort Lauderdale's Sunshine Cathedral for one night only, Saturday, March 14 at 8 p.m.
Leslie Jordan, a Tennessee native, moved to Hollywood in 1982 and, after a short stint as a jockey, realized show business was his calling. He is instantly recognizable for his trademark Southern accent and short stature. In the 1990s he earned critical acclaim for his role on the CBS sitcom "Hearts Afire," co-starring alongside John Ritter and Markie Post.
He is perhaps best-known for his recurring role as Beverley Leslie in the sitcom "Will & Grace," a role which earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series in 2006. He is also well-known to gay audiences for his performance as "Brother Boy" in the film and TV series "Sordid Lives." He has written a number of original stage plays, such as "My Trip Down the Carpet," "Stories I Can't Tell Mama," and "Fruit Fly." He also has an impressive roster of character appearances in films like "The Help" and TV shows like "The Exes," "Raising Hope," and "The Neighbors." Recently he was seen in the UK on their "Celebrity Big Brother" series, and was a featured guest star in the third season of FX's "American Horror Story."
Tickets are available for purchase right now.
