Girls That Roam Sponsors 2nd Annual Women's Travel Fest

From February 27-March 1, women travelers will flock to San Francisco for the Second Annual Women's Travel Fest 2015. Featured speakers include Felicity Aston, Lisa Ling, and Patricia Schultz, tell their stories of adventure and pushing their personal boundaries.

This year's speakers do exactly that." said Heather Cassell, publisher and editor of Girls That Roam.

Panels include "Going Further on Less," a discussion about budget travel, and another "Breaking Free," a discussion about transformative travel after life shakes you to your core. The travel fest includes a pre-party on February 27, the Women's Travel Fest on February 28, and workshops on March 1.

Access to the pre-party comes complimentary with all ticket types. Workshop space is limited, and is first-come, first-served. You must register for workshops when you purchase a ticket. Workshops will be held in the Women's Building, 3543 18th St., in the Mission.

The Women's Travel Fest is produced by the founder of the "Go! Girl Guides" Kelly Lewis and her gallivanting team. The idea for the Women's Travel Fest was born in 2011 while founder Kelly Lewis was on a press trip in Thailand along with Jerri Stephenson of "Do It While You're Young."

Both women's travel writers, the two started wondering why a festival like this had never been done, but it wasn't until 2013, after Kelly had completed a successful cross-country book tour, that the wheels began turning.

While on tour, Kelly connected with women of all ages who were in different phases of life but were equally as interested in finding out more about traveling safely. She heard the same thing over and over again, "I want to travel, but..." and as she worked her way across the country, the inspiration and energy that came from these discussions gave her goosebumps.

After she moved to NYC and met Mickela Mallozzi and Masha Vapnitchnaia, the three recognized it was time to do this on a bigger scale, and thus, the Women's Travel Festival was born.

The three-day event will be hosted at the San Francisco Design Center, 101 Henry Adams Street in San Francisco.
