Russian Military Choir "Get Lucky" In Sochi

Have you ever wondered what the hit TV show "GLEE" would look like if it were set in a homophobic totalitarian regime, and the cast was replaced by middle-aged white men sorely lacking in rhythm or smiles?

If you were one of the handful of self-respecting homosexuals with enough fortitude to tune into NBC last night to see the opening ceremony for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, your "GLEE" fantasy (or nightmare) was realized in full color.

At the opening ceremony, which was marred by one very noticeable flaw, when only four out of the five Olympic rings lit up due to a technical snafu, the life of the party was the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Choir singing the international Daft Punk hit "Get Lucky."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is not the first time Russia's favorite military show choir has performed the neo-disco classic, which has been part of their repertoire since a YouTube video of them performing it went viral in November 2013.

The robotic french duo, Daft Punk have not commented.

The Sochi opening was in stark contrast with the 2012 London Olympics, which saw performances by One Direction, George Michael, Annie Lennox, The Spice Girls and The Who. Finding a marquee name to perform in the opening and closing ceremonies of the Sochi Olympics has been a daunting task. Several major international stars including Cher have publicly declined to take part in the Sochi Games due to the 2013 passage of Russia's "gay propaganda" law.
