Conn. Man Arrested for Making Anti-Gay, Violent Threats To Family

A Connecticut man was arrested on Christmas after he allegedly made anti-gay slurs and violent threats to his sister, who is a lesbian, and other members of his family, the New Britain Herald reports.

Gordon Bissonette, 46, was reported to Connecticut police on Wednesday by Clelie Bissonette, his mother, who claimed that Gordon, her son, threatened to kill her if she saw her daughter, Corinne Bissonette, on Christmas.

According to the police report, Gordon's brother, Brian Bissonette, went to the police to play eight voice mail messages from Gordon. The messages were left throughout the middle of December. In them, Gordon can be heard condemning his sister's homosexuality.

"If she [expletive] with my child again, I will execute her myself," Gordon allegedly says on the voicemail, according to the police report. "Corinne, if she goes against me, there will be bullets flying. She cannot talk to me. I wanna execute her. I will kill a gay. I'll put a bullet in both their heads. If they turn my daughter gay, I'm gonna kill them both. I'm gonna blow their brains out."

On another message, Gordon allegedly asks his brother if he wants to help him "destroy" Corinne's Christmas, adding that he is in a war with his sister's wife's family, the report reads.

Gordon has been charged with second-degree intimidation due to a bias, second-degree threatening and second-degree harassment. He was arraigned Thursday on those charges and his bond was set at $75,000. Additionally, he was issued four protective orders on behalf of his mother, sister, his brother and his sister's wife, which means he is not allowed to contact them in any way.

Gordon told police he had left the voicemails, but said he didn't remember what he said. He also admitted to being drunk when he left them, according to the police report. He also said that he planned to throw a smoke bomb in the house where his sister and her wife were celebrating Christmas so they would think it was a gun and "freak out."

He is set to appear in court on Jan. 24.
