Gay Porn Actor Charged With 2010 Murder

A porn actor who dabbled both in gay and straight porn was charged Aug. 8 with stabbing a Pompano Beach, Fla., man in 2010, CBS Miami reports.

Local police filed a second degree charge against John Snavely, 26, who is accused of stabbing Sam Del Brocco three years ago. As reported in Queerty, Snavely's gay porn handle is "Joshua" / "Josh Logan" and he performed under the name "Johnny Champ" when doing straight porn. Snavely, who police say is also an exotic dancer, is currently being held in jail in St. Lucie County, Fla., (130 miles north of Miami, Fla.) for violating his probation.

Homicide Detective John Curcio told CBS Miami that authorities collected physical evidence in 2010 that led to Snavely's arrest.

"It was not only inside the crime scene, but in the victim's vehicle as well," he said.

He added that there was a violent struggle between Del Brocco, a former singer who ran a marketing business in Washington. D.C., and his assailant. Brocco was killed in his upscale beach-side condo in Pompano Beach.

"To realize that the whole fight may have taken place on three different floors, it's a horrific thing. Someone was bound and determined that they were not going to leave until Sam was dead," Greg Czarnecki, a friend of Del Brocco, told CBS Miami at the time of Del Brocco's murder.

Crucio said police believe the men had "some kind of encounter" before Del Brocco was stabbed to death, but admitted authorities are unsure what the altercation started over.

"We believe it possibly is over money," Crucio said.

According to investigators, Del Brocco lived in Virginia but often visited his home in Pompano Beach. He was the president and CEO and PCI Communications, a communications and strategy company based in Washington, D.C. Though married for over 30 years to his wife Jan Shaffer, police also concluded that the victim most likely had a secret life in Florida.

Hours before Del Brocco was murdered on Sept. 12, 2010, it's alleged he may have stopped at Johnny's, a gay bar, or another local gay bar called Dudes. Around 12:30 in the morning, he arrived back to his posh condo and was believed to be with Snavely. Around 9 p.m. the same day, his wife called police and asked for them to check on Del Brocco. Officers found his body in the condo's master bedroom.

According to an autopsy, Del Brocco had died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Queerty reports that Snavely was a gay porn actor for Jet Set as Josh Logan. TheDirty.com published a story on Snavely's criminal record, shortly after Del Brocco's murder.

"He is a felon who actually lives in San Antonio and is on probation but flies into Miami to film his porn on a weekly," the article reads. "He would be in jail in a heartbeat if they knew this. Also he is a woman harasser and beater... this guy thinks he is god's gift to women and treats them like sh*t when he gets dissed by them, he acts like a complete psycho. He also recently filmed a porn called the 'Jersey Score' where he played Ronnie... lmao. this loser needs to be humiliated and sent back to texas where he belongs... not miami... where he is going to eventually hit a girl. I wonder what his parents and family are going to think about this?"
