The 2003, Centaur Music release of the dance single "Everything" started a job shift for its singer, popular gay porn model Colton Ford. Conversely, in a surprising shift of career path, 2009 "American Idol" contestant, Nathaniel Marshall has made the transition from aspiring pop singer to gay porn star.
As TMZ reports, Nathaniel Marshall, who made the top 36 during his season, made his gay porn debut in a new film called "Men Caught on Video 2" under the name Jadyn Daniels. The xxx movie came out on Sunday.
An article in The Huffington Post reveals that the singer was also a cast member of the "The Gay Real World," -- a 2011 online reality show about gay men living in a house together and having their lives taped. In Marshall's audition video, he explains why he didn't make it as a singer after he was cut from "Idol."
"I tried my hardest to get into the industry," he said, "but it's so hard. With all the people that download music illegally and everything like that people aren't giving out record contracts anymore. So I just took a break from it, went to college, got a degree. Now I just wanna figure out what's next."
A number of former reality TV contestants have made the leap from the small screen to adult video. Steven Daigle became a gay porn star 18 months after he was booted off the CBS reality show "Big Brother 10" in 2008.
Marshall is not the first "American Idol" contestant involved in a porn scandal. Second season finalist Frenchie Davis was disqualified from the contest due to the release of topless photos taken previously in her career.
