The confusing story unfolded Friday, Aug. 6, on Manhattan's Upper East Side. There, Ruben Olivares, 37, walked into the apartement, according to a story in The N.Y. Daily News, where he caught his unidentified girlfriend, 19, about to perform oral sex on Antonion Lara.
Police report that Olivares, who works in the building doing maintenance, was so enraged that he threw hydrochloric acid on Lara and ran away. HCA is extremely corrosive and will burn human away human flesh on contact.
"She wanted money for oral sex," Lara told the tabloid newspaper from his hospital bed. "So I gave her $20. Then, this guy comes through the door," and threw a coffee cup full of a toxic substance at him. Lara is reported to be suffering burns on several parts of his body.
Lara claimed he met the teen-age girl through a phone service he saw on television. Olivares allegedly walked on in them and an argument ensued.
The neighborhood, on East 78th Street, is in the heart of the most expensive neighborhood in the city.
